Network is not
I just set up a network using the wizard but I'm getting a message that says,
"[Network name] is not accessible. You might now have permission to use this
network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if
you have access permissions. The list of servers for this workgroup is not
currently available." I get this message when double clicking on the
workgroup, not on the computers associated with the workgroup (I can't even
get that far). I am trying to connect my laptop and desktop directly using
an ethernet cord so I don't know why there would be a permissioning issue. I
have also tried connected a USB cord between the two, but no luck. I just
need to move some files that I backed up on my desktop, but there are too
many to do it by burning DVD's (it would take about 8 DVD's). Any tips on
how to troubleshoot the problem or alternative ways to move the files? (24
gigs). Thanks in advance.

Re: Network is not
Hi,

please check also the following KB articles:

"Error message when you try to access a Windows XP-based network computer:
"You might not have permission to use this network resource"
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/913628

"Error message when you try to access a network share on a Windows XP-based
computer: "Workgroup is not accessible"
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/915107

You can try also pinging the server or the clinets using the Ip address to
see if there is any response at all.

Hope that will help You also

Kind Regards!

Stoyan
