no se puede completar instalacion wmp 11

Hola! Agradeceré mucho si alguien puede ayudarme. Tengo Windows XP Home
Edition SP2 (original instalado cuando compré la pc), intenté instalar el
Windows Media Player 11 y casi terminando la instalación me sale que no se
puede completar. Voy al link de ayuda y me da "You've encountered error
message C00D2AFB while using Windows Media Player":
technical details: original error code "80070005" y original error message
"general access denied error"
Además ahora tampoco se abre la versión 10 que traÃ*a la pc. Estuve buscando
la solución en base a distintos foros y no hay resultado.

Prueba lo siguiente:

Abre Inicio, Ejecutar, escribe sin comillas "regedit" y pulsa Aceptar.
Accede a la clave de Registro HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WMPlayer.OCX y elimÃ*nala.
Repite este paso con la clave HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WMPlayer.OCX.7. Ahora prueba
a instalar de nuevo WMP 11.

Adicionalmente, el fichero C:\WINDOWS\Updspapi.log deberÃ*a informarte de la
operación exacta sobre el Registro que resultó en el error de acceso
denegado. Échale un vistazo o deja por aquÃ* las 30-40 últimas lÃ*neas.
