After update get generic host proccess for win 32 series
Running Windows XP Pro SP2

After Updating I now get at start up Generic Host Process has encountered a
problem and needs to close.
First time this happened I was sent to a download to fix problem and
downloaded
fix did not write down fix and said download loaded ok.
But I still get Generic Host Process problem every time I turn on my
computer.

I hope there is another fix that I can download. When I go to microsoft
update
it shows no updates at all.
Thanks in advance for any help Wayne

"Sent to a download to fix problem"...By whom or what said this,& where
did you go for this fix...Microsoft has no such messages, its fixes or
updates are
thru windows or microsoft update only...Also,after SP2 or SP3 installation,
usually at windows update there's more installations....Might download
windows defender from microsoft & let it check for unwanted software.

RE: After update get generic host proccess for win 32 series
When window opened that Generic Host Proccess has to close. And window to send
a error report opened. Which I did. in it was a link to a Microsoft page for
a fix saying something like
after downloading one of the updates (I never wrote any of it down) a
problem with Generic Host may occur and this download fix would fix problem.
all windows or pages was from Microsoft and link was right from error report

RE: After update get generic host proccess for win 32 series
second reply
I downloaded update for Microsft silverlight (KB970363)
security update for Microsoft visual C++2005 service pack 1
redistributable package (KB973923)
cumulative security update for inertnet explore 8 for windows
(KB9772260)
downloaded and installed ok. Had to restart computer on doing so the
the Generic Host Proccessor window opened and also send error report
window
I send error report close that window then on closing Generic Host
Proccessor window it sent me to( or I clicked on more information link do not
remember) a Microsoft page something like a FAQ which explained that after
downloading
a update did not write it down that a problem with Generic Host could happen
and a fix or hotfix would fix problem and a link to page to download fix
all windows were from Microsoft at one point my Comodo Firewall came up
and I clicked on info window which showed it was from Microsoft and allow
download
Was this a true Micosoft hot fix?? I have been in many Microsoft FAQ
pages and
also add ins download pages and the pages I went to this time was the same.

The only two hotfixes in ADD OR REMOVE without dates are
KB896344 KB890046

I go to Microsoft Update pages almost every week to check my o/s is upto date
and Office 2007 Right now shows 0 updates of any kind
