F.A.S.T Wizard
Hi,
I'll apologise in advance if this is a stupid question.

I have a new laptop running Windows XP Pro (previous five year old one also
was running XP Pro, died - cannot power up; battery changed, fuse changed in
adapter changed, experienced screen pinking prior to 'dying' then total
blank; advised motherboard dead ) and so as suggested, have removed the
hard drive containing Norton Ghost and 360 Security plus a number of business
applications like TAS Books software etc, placed this in an external casing
and connected to new laptop via usb connection. I now want to transfer all
the programs and settings etc from the old drive to the new laptop but it's
not detecting the old external drive after choosing 'other' in selecting the
drive nor is it picking it up via 'direct cable'. I've over 60 applications
to transfer some of which will cause issues due to the number of times
they've already been installed so I'm dreading having to load that lot all
over again.

What am I doing wrong.........or am I trying to do something that is
impossible?

Is there anyone who can please advise/point me in the right direction?!

Many thanks to all who can 'lead me to the light' and show me a safe resolve
to this issue,

PB

RE: F.A.S.T Wizard
Check the back of the drive if it has a switch for Master or Slave.
It can no longer be Master, but now is a Slave drive.

RE: F.A.S.T Wizard
Hi Byte,
This has got to be one of the most frustrating tasks I've ever undertaken.
I've just unplugged the external drive and cannot see anything/anywhere with
a switch for me to change from 'master' to 'slave', though the packaging did
point out it was a 'HDD jumper setting to master.' What should I be looking
for to switch it to a slave please???

Many thanks.

p.s. I have tried running the FASTWiz from the external drive but it's still
doesn't enable me to access the programs etc as they do not appear.

RE: F.A.S.T Wizard
You could go to the HDD manufacturers website for assistance or info
on how to switch it. It may have a "Contact Us" tab or tech support.
Some have "800" numbers you can call.
