how to disable playing of video DVDs
Is it possible in Windows XP to make it so that a DVD movie cannot be
played on the computer? I have one family member that starts watching
a movie on the computer (even though we do have a home theater) and
will not surrender the computer to others that need to do actual work
on the computer.

Re: how to disable playing of video DVDs
Yes, remove any software that plays DVD movies; another (semi-permanent)
way is to replace the DVD drive with a standard CD-RW drive (no DVD playback
or DVD-burning/writing capability). If your family stores files on DVD
disks, they would have to revert to CD-R's or RW's.

The second method is semi-permanent because that family member may well be
able to reinstall a DVD drive if they had the knowledge to do so.
