Looking for place
Where is there a good place to get info on buying a printer?

I've about given up in ink carts and am thinking about color laser
printers. A long time ago someone suggested an HP 2550, but I just read
that it costs hundreds of dollars when you run out of toner, having to get
a new drum, etc.

I know you can Google printers, but I don't really want to research
thousands and thousands of articles - I'm just looking for a forum or NG
that would narrow things down a lot based on long experience, rather than
a week to write a review.

You will have to do some research yourself, it really depends upon your needs, how much
you want to print and the cost of consumables etc. What brand do you want? What kind of
colour printing do you want to do?

What suits one person may not necessarily suit another.

It's a while since I've had occasion to go there, but I've generally
found the buying guides helpful at http://www.pcworld.com .

Have a look at the newsgroup comp.periphs.printers
You will probably see within 5 min. whether this is helpful or not.

I'm happy with my Canon Pixma iP4000, but he said he wanted a color
laser.
