Copy to portable hard drive only unchanged/new files
Hello
I hope you can help me on this task.
I have the images folder, as documents as music folders to copy every week
to my portable hard drive. Before windows, this task were fast and simple,
with DOS comands, but i don't remember the comand to copy all files from D:
to hard drive but only new files. If i add a new folder or file to the main
folder images, i would like to copy it (without knowing wich) to my portable
drive. Like an update of my pc disc on my portable hard drive. If you could
help me, i have 2 questions :
1. Is there a way of doing it on DOS Comand?
2. Is there a way of doing it with XP?
Thank you very much for all you can do
Pedro

A simple Google search turned up a wealth of info.

Re: Copy to portable hard drive only unchanged/new files
Can you please include the search string used for the "simple search"? The
reason I ask is because when people such as yourself write that a "simple
google search provides a wealth of information" you are really saying that
people should learn to search for their answers themselves. The old "teach a
man to fish....." rhetoric. So why don't you give the OP the search string
you used. That way he and others reading the thread will be taught "how to
fish". Otherwise you come across as being condescending.

Go download Total Commander.
It has a wealth of synchronization functions and copy options.
Give it an hour and you'll never open windows explorer, or search
again.

Karen's ReplicatorAutomatically backup files, directories, even entire
drives! Karen's Replicator copies selected files from one drive/folder to
another. Source and Destination folders can reside anywhere on your network.
Options include repeated copies at intervals as short as a few
minutes, or as long as several months, copy only files that have changed,
and the replication of folder and file deletions.

New features allow you to specify which files should not be copied,
and also which days a file should be skipped!
