Need a DVD backup program recommendation
I want a simple cheap program to enable me to back up selected files and
folders from my C" drive to DVD's. I don't want a feature overloaded deal
which covers creation and editing of videos, etc.. Just something where I
can select my desired folders on the C: drive and back them to the DVD. it
would be nice if the program would remember the desired folders, so I could
repeat the backup each month.

If that's all you want, you don't need any kind of special backup
program. Almost any regular CD/DVD burning program will do that
easily.

That's also a feature of almost any CD/DVD burning program.

The burner itself (physical hardware)? Any well-reviewed one - which is
essentially most CD/DVD burners (although most call the writers) at this
point in their life. The basic internal components are almost identical
these days siince they are so widely utilized.

For CD/DVD writing software - anything you can use. Most people get aHead
Nero or Roxio Easy CD/DVD burning software of some version with their drives
these days. Those are the two larger cost softwares out there for such
things - they have both been around a long time and have many functions.

If just looking for a way to burn CDs/DVDs and you didn't get
Roxio/Nero/perhaps "Sonic" with the system - you could get a free
software...

ISORecorder page (with general instructions on use):
http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm

More full function applications (free) for CD/DVD burning would be:

CDBurnerXP Pro
http://www.cdburnerxp.se/

DeepBurner Free
http://www.deepburner.com/

ImgBurn (burn ISO images)
http://www.imgburn.com/

Final Burner Free
http://www.protectedsoft.com/descr_fb.php

BWGBurn
http://sourceforge.net/projects/bwgburn

BurnAware FREE Edition
http://www.glorylogic.com/

Another Option would be to search the web with Pricewatch.com or
Dealsites.net and find deals on Products like Ahead Nero and/or Roxio.

Ahead Nero
http://www.nero.com/

Roxio Easy Media Creator
http://www.roxio.com/

I assume you're asking about a burning *program* (software) not a
burner (hardware).

Nero is a popular one. Roxio has several such products available.
There are many other choices Google will find for you.

By the way, most CD/DVD drives come with such software. You probably
already have something.

Nero is free. Roxio still have a free version and is better IMO but
it's hard to find on their site. Others exist too but those are the two
best IMO.
Use Google to locate them.

Re: Need a DVD backup program recommendation
May I ask why you want to back up on CD's as opposed to an external HD?

OT Re: Need a DVD backup program recommendation

You've gone OT.

When you're not answering a question or situation the OP has asked for
or indicated they would like, you're also giving unsolicited advice, off
topic usually, and a waste of time all the time.
There are many valid reasons to want to copy to CD/DVD too, in
reality, but that's not the point of any of the OP's interests in his
posts. If the OP is as newbie as it appears at first glance, then all
you've done is added confusion by adding irrelevant facts. You aren't
even polite about it.
