Delayed Write Filed
This afternoon about every minute or so, I'm getting a warning balloon in
the Notification area: "Windows Delayed Write Filed. Windows was unable to
save all data from file K:\$Mft.... Please try to save this file elsewhere."
When I click on the balloon it disappears. Search for this file produced
nothing. The K drive is one with a centralized backup.
What's going on? How to stop this warning from popping up?
Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Re: Delayed Write Filed
If you are getting a delayed write failed on a network drive ("centralized
backup") there is an issue with the network. If this is a wireless network
connection you probably have a weak signal to the server. I will
occasionally get this when I am saving on the wireless network at my house
from one particular room and I have a weak signal.

If it is a wired connection I am sure someone else will come in with more
information on what to check there.

Re: Delayed Write Filed
I think you're right, it could be a weak signal on my wireless network. By
now, the warning is gone... Everything looks normal.
Thanks for your suggestion.
Ilya

Re: Delayed Write Filed
The issue with this type of message is that the data probably won't be
copied and if you are currently overwriting a file on the "server" when the
signal drops out you may lose the information on the local computer and/or
server. For that reason, I always keep a full backup of the server (Network
Attached Storage) in my home network onto another drive and these are
hardwired with a daily incremental and a weekly full backup. I also always
try to save locally before I do the network save but in your case a program
is automatically doing the save so that won't work.
