Start Menu - all items on far lefthand side have disappeared
When I click on Start, the part of the Start menu *directly* above the Start
button is completely empty. To the right of that, there is the usual My
Documents, My Computer, Control Panel, etc. However, the left side is 100%
blank. Any idea how to get the items to show back up again, please? I've
explored my Start Menu and made sure the shortcuts are there for the items,
which they are...they're just not showing up. Any help is greatly
appreciated! Thank you in advance! - Amy

Removing the Recent Documents link from XP Start Menu
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/recentdocs.htm
Follow the instruction except where it says:
"Under Recent documents, uncheck List my most recently opened documents"
Change it to read "Check List my most recently opened documents"

Re: Start Menu - all items on far lefthand side have disappeared
Thank you. However, it's not the recent documents that are missing...it's
all the applications that were listed that are missing. Any thoughts on
that? Thanks again!

OK, try this:
Start Menu Most Frequently Used programs (MFU) list is empty:

....
Have you looked in "Customize Start Menu" in
"Taskbar and Start Menu Properties (click the
"Customize" button) to see the value of
"Number of programs on Start menu"?
On my machine, the number is 6, but it's
possible to set it to zero.

Re: Start Menu - all items on far lefthand side have disappeared
Yes, I tried that earlier...set it to 10; but that didn't work. Thank you
for the input though! I'm trying everything @ this point.

Re: Start Menu - all items on far lefthand side have disappeared
I have it set up that way already - it's checked. Still, nothing shows up.
Thank you though!

Re: Start Menu - all items on far lefthand side have disappeared
This is exactly what I needed...unfortunately, the company admin has regedit
locked down so I can't access it. At least I know where to point the Help
Desk now though. Thanks for your help!!
