About Acronis True Image
I have just purchased Acronis True Image 11 Home and I'm not quite sure how
to set it up. The Quick Start Guide says that when I load the CD I will
need to choose between Typical, Custom, or Complete Installation. A this
stage I don't know what I want or need. If I choose Typical, for example,
can I change it later? Same with other options.

Thanks for your help.

If you have the room, just load the full version.

TYPICAL: will be the most-used setup in the author's opinion and should
serve most if not all of one's needs. It will be a little less
confusing to learn than the full install since you won't have the more
specialized options.

CUTOM: Don't use. Custom installs are for those who know well what the
program does and specific things they want installed and not installed.
No use to a beginner.

COMPLETE: Installs everything it's got. Might be a lot more than you
need, might confuse things by having longer and more detailed menus,
etc.. But if it won't work in a complete install, then the program
doesn't do it.

Yes, you can go back and resort the installation any time you wish.

Sounds like the Typical is the one for you right now.

My thanks to all of you.

I have adequate disk space. If I can change my mind later -- and I am
assured that I can -- I'll start with "Typical" and learn about Acronis
before expanding its capabilities.

You did read the manual? if there is none with the program, print the
help file or the manual that may be contained in the files on the CD.
I use v9 and did the printing. It is a somewhat complicated program
until you have it set up and use it.
I also used it to image a drive I was replacing. How easy to do! (with
the manual)

Thank you. I did browse the manual but at about 127 pages I didn't print
it. I know how to find it and am learning how to choose the sections I need
to know.

Re: About Acronis True Image
I've been using TI since v7. Generally I use the Typical install and
that loads everything that I really care about. As far as using it for
backups, I mostly just accept the defaults. Over time I have played
with the different BU options and, as I learn more about them,
customize them to make the backups better fit my needs. But for a
start, using a typical installation and using the default options
works pretty darn well.

Re: About Acronis True Image
Hi,
Unless you are short on disk space do the complete. Later, if you want you
can un-install it and do a typical or custom install.
