Another backup question

Home XP SP2

Ok, after getting someone to manually install a backup routine
???????????????, a question.

I have an external HD strictly for routine backups, and I want to ghost C
drive onto the external E drive. I see where it will also make a boot disk.

I also see where it says to have a floppy handy for the boot disk. I have no
floppy drive in this new machine. Will it let me pick the drive plus
automatically burn a CD for the boot disk? Or would I do new install of XP
first, then ghost the E drive back?

Thanks again folks. Lee

Evidently you are using ntbackup...
Ntbackup must use a floppy drive (in addition to the drive which contains
the backup file) during the restoration.
There is no way around this limitation. You can use a USB floppy drive
which you buy from your local computer store.
In addition, you must use the XP distribution CD to perform the restoration.

For these and many other reasons, most people move to Acronis or Norton
Ghost.
