Nesting Programs Start Folder forces Install
I like an organized start menu. On a regular basis I do some cleanup to put
program groups in sub folders in my All Users/Start/All Programs folders.
For example, anything that is internet or communications related goes in my
Network forlder. This way, instead of filling my screen with bunches of
program group folders when I hit Start/All Programs, I have 6 folders that
give me a fly-out menu w/ further groupings. It simplifies life!
This works GREAT with most of my programs. There are two or three programs
(Cisco VPN among them), that after I move their program group folder, when I
boot the system or attempt to run the program, I get an installation dialog.
Once it completes, I look at my Start/All Programs, and, low and behold, a
new program group folder is now sitting at the root of the Start/All
Programs folder.
Does anyone know 1) why this happens and 2) if there is some way to make
this stop? Or, is this just one of those things that are subject to the
authoring software company's strange install setup or dependencies and I
have to live w/ it?
Thanks.
