Restore registry from backup .reg file?

Is there some fairly easy way to restore the entire registry to a previous
state when one has a backup copy of the registry (ie opened registry and
clicked Export) ? System Restore has been turned off. TIA ...

The backup created as you mention is not complete...pretty much useless.

Turn System Restore back on or use the Backup utility located in System
Tools to back up System State.
