Compressed Folders Extraction Wizard - don't show extracted files by default
Using XPs native zip extraction with a right-click, the final screen
defaults to "Show Extracted Files". More often than not, I don't want this
and remove the tick (check) from the box before clicking on "Finish". Next
time, it reverts to inserting the tick for me. Does anyone know of a way of
changing the default to the box being unticked - viz, I'd have to put the
tick *in* the box to get the extracted files shown? It's only a click, I
know, and a minor issue, but nonetheless is an irritant!

Have tried Googling, a quick hunt through the registry for "extracted", and
looking through TweakUI's settings, but to no avail. Had a quick fiddle with
ShellExView, too - not used it before, but couldn't see anything there
either.

Who uses the Extraction Wizard? There are so many third-party programs -
even free ones - that are so much better.

Yes, agreed, and my personal preference at home is 7-Zip.

However, at work we are restricted in what apps we can install, and I have
to live with it.

Re: Compressed Folders Extraction Wizard - don't show extracted filesby default
Here's a version of 7-Zip that requires no installation:
http://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/7-zip_portable

You can find other zippers/unzippers that require no installation. For
example, here's PeaZip with no install required:
http://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/peazip_portable

Sorry I can't help with the Extraction Wizard. (The name reminds me of
my dentist.)

Thanks for that. However, with it not being installed, I'd guess it can't
have an associated entry in a context menu for .ZIP files, so the Extraction
Wizard is more convenient (depsite that doggone necessity for a whole extra
click...).

Does anyone know a way of addressing the XP issue?
