Themes Don't appear

I have the normal xp themes and are all working but the only thing is that i
don't really like them because they are boring so i got new and better
looking themes but ...
when i open it ... the properties bar pops up and the same xp theme appears
not the one i had opened....please help!!
is there some kind of registry i need to change?
is there some kind of reset i could do besides reinstalling windows?

You cannot set it to use another"theme"
To use anoter it HAS to be the exact same file type.

Nobody knows where you got your themes or how they affected your computer.

You cannot use themes without a program that imports them.
