How to forbid user modify computer?
Hi,

We need to set up some computers that users can't modify any settings, like
no task bar, can't open control panel, etc). Something like library's
computers. How can I do it? Please help!

Any help will be appreciated!

Lisa

Re: How to forbid user modify computer?
Group Policy:
User Configuration\Administrative Templates

Registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\Explorer
to disable change a value to 1

Example:
--------------------------------------------
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoControlPanel"=dword:00000001
--------------------------------------------

Need more help? Be specific.

Re: How to forbid user modify computer?
Hi Ju.c, thanks for your help. Can you tell me why I need to set
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\Explorer
value to 1? Where in the GP that let me hide control pannel and task bar?

Thanks again,

Lisa

Re: How to forbid user modify computer?
"Why I need to set

If you open the registry to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\Explorer
you will see many entries with self descriptive names such as
"NoControlPanel" and a value of either 0 or 1.
To disable the Control Panel you would change NoControlPanel's value to
1. Make sense?

"Where in the GP that let me hide control panel and task bar?"
User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Control Panel
