Drives
I have 320GB as drive 0 with XP installed. I split my old 80GB (Drive 1
Slave) into two partitions. One I want to put a another copy of XP for a
dual boot, the other half will be for backups. I tried the software that
came with the newer 320GB drive and after the disk-to-disk copy it failed.
Does XP setup have a way to install other than drive 'C'?
Is there a way to this???
Any help would be appreciated

Re: Drives
If you'd rather not ask for technical support from the company that made
your new hard drive I would suggest this:

RE: Drives
The mfg disk software usually doesnt work with xp due to its security.
However xp already has such software built into the OS.Simply set old hd
as slave on same IDE cable, format the hd or partition in xp,once thru,go to
run,type:XCOPY C:\*.* D:\ /c/h/e/k/r Agree to all in the DOS window.Also,
D: being the old hd or partition,if asigned diffrent letter, then use that one
instead..Works every time in xp...

Re: Drives
Thanks for your input. I tried 3 times without success.
What I get is disk read error, but I can read everything on the drive.
So, I delete all partitions on that smaller drive, reformat, ...still no go.
Maybe its a bad MBR or something...I'll keep trying.....
Again THANKS Andrew

RE: Drives
Never had any problems with the disk to disk copy software that most hard
drive makers provide. Also had good results with Norton Ghost and Partition
Magic.

Re: Drives
I finally got it to work.......got CD-RW & DVD-RW letters in places I don't
want. I see I can change the Drive letters, but not those other devices
don't show up.
