Icons
I have been trying for a long time to find an icon of an elephant with its
trunk going up that I can use as the icon for my main folder in Windows XP. I
find a lot of clip art on Microsoft's site, but none of the images are icons
and so can't be used for my purposes. Can you point me to a site where I can
get the kind of icon I'm looking for - at no cost?

Pull up good. Click on the images link.
Then search for elephant. There is also a "size" option and you can
pick 'small' as you don't need the wallpaper size stuff.

If then does not work, google 'icons'.

"Pull up good." Sorry. I must have missed something in the transmission.

Pull up google. Sorry. Hardware problem, its either the keyboard or
the nut behind it. :-)

Also you can tweak icons with a free icon editor if you want.
http://icofx.ro/

Its free and a rather full featured editor.

Re: Icons
Thank you. I did earlier Google searches that were, apparently, too specific
(e.g., "elephant icon"). Just Googling "icon" worked - it took a bit of
searching, but I did find one. Thanks. I may also take a look at the icon
editor to see if I can improve the icon I got.

Did you see the "images" link at the top of google.com? If you click
there, google only searches images. Once you make a search like
'elephant' you have a "size" option. You can pick 'small'.

Re: Icons
Yup, I saw the "images" link on Google. But Windows will not accept those
images as icons, which have a different extension. So, I can't use the images
as the icon for my main folder. But I did find one doing a regular Google
search for "icons" and then searching the various collections. Not the best
elephant I've seen, but it works for now.

Thanks again.

IcoFX will let you import another file type like bmp or gif and make a
ico out of it. Granted it has to be small enough or you crop. But it
can be done. I'll leave you alone to play. You're well on your way.

You can use ANY image as an icon by following these steps.

Get a good image program suchg as the FREE Irfanview from:-

http://www.irfanview.net/

Load the image into Irfanview and resize to about 32x32 pixels
(Image | Resize menu item)

Use the "Save As" menu item then, near the bottom of the save box,
look for "Save as type" and select

ICO - Windows Icon
