Installing a second window Xp on second partition of one hard disk

hi friends
can someone help........
actually i have one windows Xp installed on one partion of my hard
disk
now a days it is showing some generic host error ]
which is creating problems
so i want to do a second installation of windows Xp with a different
product key
i just wanna clarify if both the operating system will work since both
would be XPs
&
how to start installation of second Xp on another partion
Help since i am doing installation for the first time

Please describe the 'generic host error' in detail. Under what
circumstances do you see the error and what is the complete text of the
error?
