WMP11 and hardware decoder

I am trying to determine software needed for an XPe device that will include
a hardware video decoder (e.g. BCM70010) and possibly WMP11. I know that
WMP11 works with software decoders, but will it detect (or can we direct it)
to use the hardware decoder instead?

Where can I find documentation that describes how to integrate audio and
video capabilities on an XPe device?
