Can't install web cam

Hi there

I recently acquired a pc that has a web cam incorporated but I can't install
it.

I tried in Windows XP Professional and it worked, so I believe that there's
something missing from the embedded image, but I don't know what. Please help
me on this one

The device is: Ricoh R5U870 Video Device.

Thanks in advance.

From the sound of your post, I'm assuming you don't have the ability to
modify the XPe build?

XPe is so configurable that what it is capable of doing is dependent on
which components were added to the build.

With that said, what actually happens when you try to install it?
Are there any error messages?

Re: Can't install web cam
Thanks for your reply Mike.

I can modify my XPe image, and that's what I am trying to do. My problem is
I am probably not adding the right components so that I can install the web
cam properly (and I can't figure out what is missing).

I already tried to include the component directly, but the result is the same.

I get this error message: "Windows cannot load the device for this hardware.
The driver may be corrupted or missing (code 39)"

The reason I believe the driver is fine, is because I installed the web cam
on windows XP Professional perfectly.

As I mention before, the device is: Ricoh R5U870 Video Device.

Thanks in advance

Do you have any dependency errors after adding the component?

I think you are right that this is a missing dependency problem. I have
no experience with web-cams so am at a loss as to which components they
might be.

Here some components that I'm guessing at:

Analog TV
Class Installer - Imaging devices
DirectShow Video For Windows / WDM
Kernel Streaming User Mode Support
Primitive: Ks.inf
Primitive: Ks.sys
Primitive: Stream.sys
Primitive: Winmm
Video For Windows Core
Windows Image Acquisition Core

There will also be a lot of others that these components are dependent
on.

Re: Can't install web cam

1) Get the camera working in XP Pro..
2) Download and install a product called "DriverMax"
3) Have DM export the drivers needed for the webcam into a ZIP file
4) Copy the ZIP file into the build you made and now you have the exact
drivers you need for the device.

Works great with webcams...
