Age of Mythology
I receive the error when trying to connect to ESO "Your cd key cannot be
currently validated. Please try again in a few minutes." I purchased this
game one week ago and have been trying to figure out what is wrong ever since.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/812510 I have been to this web page that
Microsoft has provided, but it is use less to me because i am using this only
on one computer in my home and have used the cd key that came with the cd. I
have noticed on several other websites people have had this same problem but
with no solution. If their is no solution i would like to be directed to
where i can exchange this game with one that has a cd key that works.
thanks

Basically what this website is saying is you are using a CD-Key that
SOMEONE ELSE is using, either that, or your CD-Key was stolen, or you
are using a stolen, copied, hacked, CD-Key.

When you login to Age of Mythology online, you make an account and it
asks for your CD-Key, once you make that account, that is the ONLY
account you can use with AoM. If you tried to make another account with
the same Key, you'll get this message.

Solution would be to contact Microsoft Tech Support and see if you can
retrieve the original account login that you originally used.

On a side note, and forgive me if I am wrong, but I read this message
and the first thing I think is, Someone copied the game/key off the
Internet or from a friend and is trying to use it online.

Let me tell you now, it doesn't work. Any key that's been posted online,
has been deactivated by the game publisher and won't work if it's used
to play online. AoM will play just fine in Single Player, but if you
want to play online, ya gotta own a legal copy of the game, and if you
gave your CD-Key to a friend or lost the account you made with the Key,
you violated your EULA (End-User License Agreement), and that copy of
your software is now invalid.

No one will give you their key, because if you give your key away to
someone else the game becomes WORTHLESS. The only ones who can give you
a new Key is the game publisher (Microsoft), and unless you can prove
ownership to them, you probably won't get one. Try buying a new copy of
the game, or returning the old one and getting a new sealed copy. Keep
in mind most game stores won't take back PC titles because people are
always trying to take them home, copy them and return them.

boo...

Microsoft can't "look up" keys, only you have the key, and only you can
see the key on that little label. If the key was damaged, or has since
become unreadable, Then you may be out of luck.

Check your manual and see if Microsoft has a "Warranty Replacement"
option. Often times game companies will replace a damaged game if you
send back the original.

you like single player and multiple people can use the same cd key you just
cant be online at the same time. thanks for the info again

Sounds like Piracy to me, I don't know where you buy your games from,
but you should consider another store, and you might want to report
wherever you're getting your games from to:

http://www.microsoft.com/piracy/

Also if you are actually pirating games from the Interweb, KNOCK IT OFF!
If you want to play the game online, go buy it. If you don't well then
keep pirating, but stop wasting everyones time.

Yeah, Walmart is a bad place to get software, they often re-package
games that have been returned. Once a CD-Key is used it's usually not
able to be used again. If Age of Mythology says the key is invalid or
cannot be used, then it's invalid or has been used already.

I highly recommend Amazon.com or NewEgg.com if you're buying software
online. Also Best Buy does not re-package returned software, so if you
buy from them you should be getting a new copy of the game.

You can double check by looking at all the security stickers on the
packaging. If they are torn or look like they've been peeled off and re-
attached, do not buy. If the shrink wrap looks wrong compared to the
other copies, yeah, no good.

Sorry about the piracy accusation, but now a days, it's a common enough
practice and I don't get to flat out accuse people in my day-to-day
struggles. This is my "Tell it how I see it" forum.

I also stated, "If you are actually pirating games..." Meaning, I wasn't
saying you were, but IF you were. Since you aren't, well... Yeah, double
check your cd-key entry skills (8's are not B's, but they sure look like
it), and call Microsoft.
