Windows XP language
I have 2 genuine Windows XP Professional CDs. I already installed one of them
some time ago. Now I bought a new PC and I wanted to install the second
license but I discovered it is in Portuguese instead of English.
Can I use the English CD (original) with the Portuguese license number?

No, that would deprive Micro$oft of their ill gained profits and we
don't want to do that, do we? Why don't you just install a real
operating system like Ubuntu (http://www.ubuntu.com/) and not have to be
subjected to Micro$oft's restrictions. It's FREE and comes with access
to thousands of FREE programs. It doesn't need an anti virus program and
you can install it on as many computers as you like with no worries
about activation or becoming "genuine". Not only that, the CD you
download can be installed in hundreds of languages.

No, that won't work. Sell (or return to where you bought it) the Portuguese
XP and purchase an English version instead.

Thanks for the tips. Unfortunately I must work with Windows because of
several other applications that work exclusively on Windows.

Anyway, the seller already acknowledged the mistake. The problem is to find
Windows XP for sale now, even more difficult in English because we are in
Portugal.
Thanks anyway.

If you are able to wait a few days, why not order it online? See:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16832116511

Are you sure your PC supports XP?

Actually, what is the make and model of the PC? Many come with a hidden
restore partition. Or did this new PC come with Vista?

Both NewEgg.com and Amazon.com have retail versions of XP for sale. I'm sure
both those companies can ship to Portugal.

If you have a friend in the States, XP in English is available at

Well, so much for your "real operating system like Ubuntu." Funny how real
people who do real work can't use a "real" operating system, and have to
resort to one of those toy operating systems like Windows.

I don't know. Since I was quoting the OP verbatum, maybe you should ask him.
