.net framework 2.0 service pack 1 (kb11806) will not install
I have been searching for weeks now to find the exact thing to do about
this problem. I type this into the search here:
http://support.microsoft.com/ph/6794 and get a multitude of items to read. I
can not understand most of this and wonder why there is not a more specific
solution to this problem. I was hoping someone that has solved this problem
can direct me to an easier fix.

Thanks.

Dave

First, see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923100 (ignore the title).

If no joy, see this recent post by my colleague MowGreen:

Thanks for the reply and links. I have been trying everything that has been
recommended but no good has come what-so-ever. I can not remove updates
manually and running the removal tool results in an error window that asks
to send report to Microsoft which I select not. It seems I have run into a
brick wall and finding no solution. Unless I can find out how to get past
these errors or there are any other ideas I most likely will have to do a
repair install of WinXP.

Thanks PA Bear.

Dave.

YW. Instead of a Repair Install, you might...

Start a free Windows Update support incident request:
https://support.microsoft.com/oas/de...spx?gprid=6527

Support for Windows Update:
http://support.microsoft.com/gp/wusupport

For home users, no-charge support is available by calling 1-866-PCSAFETY in
the United States and in Canada or by contacting your local Microsoft
subsidiary. There is no-charge for support calls that are associated with
security updates. When you call, clearly state that your problem is related
to a Security Update and cite the update's KB number (e.g., KB123456).

For more information about how to contact your local Microsoft subsidiary
for security update support issues, visit the International Support Web
site: http://support.microsoft.com/common/international.aspx

For enterprise customers, support for security updates is available through
your usual support contacts.
