Computer will not come out of hibernate

When called to come out of hibernate, i.e. moving the mouse or clicking the
keyboard the computer will not respond. If it has been in hibernate
overnight it will most likely be frozen (crashed).

The First Question Of Troubleshooting: what changed between the time things
worked and the time they didn't? If you know what changed, act accordingly.

Otherwise, check on the computer mftr.'s website for updated drivers, power
management software, BIOS upgrade that may address the issue.

Without more information from you, that's as specific as I can get.

Don't Panic!

Check the Power mangement properties of keyboard and mouse:

Control panel > Open Keyboard properties > Hardware tab >Select the Keyboard
device > Click the Properties button > Power Management tab > Put a check
mark on Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby. Do the same
with the mouse.

In Hibernate, the PC has copied it's operating state to the hard drive
and then shut itself off. You may press the power button to start the
computer and it will then restore the the "saved operating state". As to
"frozen", the likely cause of the problem is that it is connected
directly to your internet provider through a modem or cable modem and
the connection is no longer valid, because your IP address was "reused"
for another customer while your PC was off. If you install a "router"
between your PC and the internet connection, then the PC may keep the
same IP address and the "router" will keep the internet connection alive.

There is no difference between hibernating for 5 minutes, overnight or for
10 years. If one works but any of the others don't then you have a hardware
problem.

I have always had the keyboard and mouse marked as suggested by Rey
and sporadically have the same problem as you.

My fix: Quit using hibernate AND standby. Neither are consistently
reliable.

Had very little trouble with standby but lots with hibernate so
discontinued it 3 years ago. This is with HP computer AMD
Athlon.

The last time I used standby I had a hard time getting things
started again. Had to hold in the power button and I hate to
have to do that.

Mine is a Dell, Intel Pentium Dual Core, E2140 @ 1.60Ghz.
Dell may have some answers, haven't asked.

Put your computer in hibernation

Hibernation is a state in which your computer shuts down to save power but first saves everything in memory on your hard disk. When you restart the computer, your desktop is restored exactly as you left it. Use hibernation to save power when you will be away from the computer for an extended time while working.

Hibernation key word is shuts down.
