Outlook 97
Hi,

I have been using outlook 97 without any problems on a windows XP service
pack 2 machine for some time.

I recently had to re-install XP and now I can't open Outlook 97 ( just get a
send error report dialog box headed 'OUTLOOK.EXE has encountered a problem
and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience'

Could anyone help resolve this please?

Have you tried an Outlook newsgroup?

Re: Outlook 97
Outlook was never a part of any versions of Windows. Outlook is a part of the
MS Office system. Outlook can also be purchased as a separate product. Since
you state that you reinstalled XP, may need to re-install your other
applications.

Have you reinstalled Outlook 97?

Outlook-specific newsgroups include:

news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof....configuration
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof...k.installation

He's getting an outlook.exe message so it appears he has.

Yes, that's a possible interpretation.

Re: Outlook 97
Yes, BUT just double-clicking on a shortcut to outlook.exe will start
Outlook even if it wasn't reinstalled, but then it will crash, because
it wasn't "installed".

Re: Outlook 97
The OP doesn't state what he means by "reinstall".

Was it a repair install, or a fresh XP install with all programs reinstalled
as well.
