XP Frequency of Program Use Counter Unreliable
In the Add or Remove programs form, the frequency of use is reported as
rare, occassionaly or frequently. Supposedly this information is used to
put the most frequently used programs in the best postions on the hard drive
when you defrag.

But I have programs that are not being reported correctly. On one program
which I use several times a day, it says the last use was last year.

Any ideas to make this function work correctly?

Thank you.

Mike

What is the application in question?

It would need to take advantage of this tool and it may not have been
written to do so (or it was written before such a thing existed.)

Nope. Forget about using it that way or in any way.

LOL. Thank you.

Do you know of any defrag program that would allow me to prioritize
programs' postions?

No I don't, but I haven't studied them. I use PerfectDisk. You can't
select what you want where. But why would you want to?

The reason I wanted to is maximize the performance of the one game I play.
It gets video stutters under heavy loads.

Thank you for your input. I've heard Perfect Disk is good but if it won't
let me prioritize I'll stick with MS

Config can defrag only the specific file you identify. I use it on one
of my games.
