Applying group policy by command line

I have generated a registry.pol file with gpedit on a winzp and am pasteing
the file into other winxp machines (system32\group policy\user\). What
command do i now use to apply the pasted registry.pol? i have tried gpupdate
with no success.

the only successful way i have found is to open gpedit.mcs then open a
object, make a change and apply the change. the whole new registry.pol is
then applied.

however i want to apply using a command.....any ideas?
