Hello, Using Windows XP Home SP2, all updates installed.
Error, event ID: 7023 (many) generated when removing program using ADD/REMOVE.
Reason cannot find "appmgmt.dll".
A acknowledged problem in Windows XP Home; Microsoft issued a hot fix, then
added fix in SP2.
The hot fix kb328213 worked one time, SP2 did not fix problem.
Since a hot fix was issued any problems with this issue will be treated as a
paid for
service issue.
This is a minor inconvenience, does not seem to cause any problems using the
system.

Can I place "appmgmts.dll" a Windows XP Pro file (proper listed name,
Microsoft forgot the "s" on the information help site), in the Windows XP
Home SP2 system32 folder, without registering file? Hoping that when the
removal program finds this .dll it will not generate error messages.

Is this a feasible fix for the above listed problem?

take care.
beamish.

I completely ignore this "error". It seems to occur quite often
(IIRC) when a program is uninstalled.

Hello,
I usually follow the same inaction.
Today I thought (bad thing to do,I know) that if Windows was looking for
something that is not installed, why not install the item, appmgmts.dll.
I was interested in finding out if this would create problems.
Have installed, removed one program without "error" appearing.

Thank you for replying.
take care.
