Best File Undelete Software
Does anyone have any recommendations for the best file undelete
software?

For example, for when I empty the recycle bin with a file that I
didn't want to delete.

What I want is something that I can have on computer for when I do
something really stupid.

The software has to support

* Windows 2000
* Windows XP
* Windows 2003 Server (32 bit and 64 bit)
* Windows Vista

You may want to try "Restoration" that comes highly regarded on MVP Jim
Eshelman's site. It is listed as part of his favorite "freeware".

Re: Best File Undelete Software
Seconded. And if the sublink for the actual program there doesn't work (or
comes up in Japanese), search for it on the Internet (like for Rest2514, or
whatever - I have that version).

That program sometimes succeeded in recovering some erased files where some
other ones didn't. (Its interface is a bit simple and feature limited,
but outside of that, it's pretty good).

Of course, whether you can get recover (intact) an erased file is a bit of a
crap shoot, anyway, *especially* if you've been using the disk a lot.

Re: Best File Undelete Software
I've tested many including Restoration and have found
Recuva the best. Restoration is good and fast, but Recuva
restored files that Restoration did not find. Try them both
and see.

Recuva - File Recovery
http://www.recuva.com/

"Recuva is a freeware Windows utility to restore files that
have been accidentally deleted from your computer. This
includes files emptied from the Recycle bin as well as images
and other files that have been deleted by user error from
digital camera memory cards or MP3 players. It will even
bring back files that have been deleted by bugs, crashes and
viruses!"

You can try to use Easy File Undelete to recover deleted files:

http://www.munsoft.com/EasyFileUndelete/

It is one of the best data recovery software in the market and uses
unique modern algorithms to recover files that other software either
recovers incorrectly or is unable to detect.
