Lost windows installer
When I attempt to install a program I get the following message: The Windows
Installer could not be accessed. This occurs if you are running Windows in
safe mode, or if the windows installer is not correctly installed.
I am not running in safe mode. I saw on another site that I could install
windows installer 3.1, but I did not understand the directions.
In the system configuration utility(msconfig) under the processes tab the
Windows Installer has a check next to it on the left, on the right it says
"stopped".
If more information is needed I will attempt to provide it. Thanks.

RE: Lost windows installer
Go to microsoft downloads, locate "all downloads",scroll to
installer,install 3.1
Simply select "run" from download options, once installed,go to run, type:
services.msc In msc,scroll to installer,double click,select auto start
from manual,
exit msc restart pc

RE: Lost windows installer
Hi Andrew E.,
I followed your instructions and the result is the same. I do not know if
it is of importance, but in the msc.service the line above the place to make
it automatic there is no path indicated. Another thing, when I restart the
computer for a split second the window installer that says windows installer
is configuring the program or something like that comes up two or three times
and then stops. I hope that information helps. Thank you for your help.

RE: Lost windows installer
When I reboot the windows installer attempts to install a program. The only
way that I can get it off the desktop is to ctrl alt del and end task. It is
still attempting to install in the background. If I try to installa program
I get Error 1500. Yo umust finish current install first. I tried to install
windows clean up utility, but I gat the same message. Can somebody tell
me(in detail, I am not a techy) how to install manually? I am lost. Thanks.
