deleted desktop items back
Repeatedly, I keep having items that have been deleted from my desktop that
keep coming back. I use my desktop as a temporary save location. Once I have
done what I needed with a particular file, it is removed either by deletion
or relocation. From time to time, a ton of these files show back up on my
desktop and I am not sure why. Not even sure what triggers it. I have purged
the system (recycle bin) and ran a program such as ccleaner to rid this
info, but still, for some reason, this stuff keeps coming back. What can I
do here? I am at wits end. Have all applicable updates for XP Pro and all
else is running smoothly as it should. Ideas, suggestions, etc...? Thanks
much.

Here are a few ideas.. (strictly WAG): Open System Properties, Advanced
tab, "Environment Variables" button, make sure none of the Temp folder
paths include the Desktop. It's also possible that the default zip
folder was set to the Desktop, or maybe the default Download folder.
Files in System folders are routinely replaced, when deleted. I think
the files in the DLLcache folder, and possibly the i386 folders are
protected. If the files somehow made it to one of those folders, that
might explain their replacement.

Maybe some unique software you're running is doing something similar.
Disable any suspect program and see if that eliminates the problem.
