XP Pro. and Dual Layer Writers

Hi, I just got a Dual Layer Burner off eBay cheep and it don't read in
my Windows XP Professional. Do I need a special Driver or something or
is the Drive dead? thanks for the help.

It shouldn't but you never know. I would check to make sure its
installed correctly. That the cables are secure and the jumpers are
set if its atapi.

Its possible the drive is bad if its not being seen. Also check for
bios updates for that drive.

DVD burners all use the standard Microsoft drivers for reading disks.
You will need to install a "burning" software tool line Nero or Roxio.

If the drive will not read, then it may be not working at all. Check
with the eBay vendor for their policy for "defective" products. One of
the reasons I am "weary" on purchasing from eBay.

What do you mean it don't read??

are you saying you inserted a DVD and it does nothing? Please be specific,
any error messages?
tell us step by step what you did and what media you inserted if any?
What software are you using to play a DVD or attempt to create a DVD?
