Add/Remove in Safe Mode
I can not get Add/Remove Programs to work in SafeMode. I get an error saying
the Windows installer service cannot be run in safemode, or something to that
effect. I've tried to resolve the problem with KB315346 to no avail.

Any ideas?

Programs that were installed using the Windows Installer (*.msi) can't
be uninstalled in Safe Mode. You need to uninstall them in Regular Mode.

Re: Add/Remove in Safe Mode
That confirms what I already suspected. So, if I install a bogus Windows
patch, the only solution is to reinstall Windows. Way to go Microsoft.

That adds to the cost of ownership, don't it

Actually that isn't true, but since you didn't provide any details about
what you did, what your level of computer skills are, and what tools you
have available to you, I can't suggest focused troubleshooting.
