Where are the index.dat files?
A few days ago I booted up in safe mode and deleted the following
index.dat files:

%userprofile%\Cookies\index.dat
%userprofile%\local settings\History\History.IE5\index.dat
%userprofile%\local settings\temporary internet files
\Content.IE5\index.dat

Windows has not yet recreated those files. Is this something to be
concerned about?

Poor choice of words on my part. Instead of asking "Where are they" I
should've asked "Why weren't they recreated"? I know where they're
supposed to be located. In the past whenever I deleted them Windows
would recreate them on the next normal boot-up. But not this time.
What happened?

Nevermind, I made the mistake of not using the "/a:hs" switch on my
"dir" command at the cmd prompt. Thanks for the info just the same.
