"SideBySide " error in Event Viewer
Since the last three days, I am repeatedly getting a set of three
"SideBySide" errors, as seenm in the event viewer.
Event Type: Error
Event Source: SideBySide
Event Category: None
Event ID: 59
......
Description [of Error No. 1 of the three]:
[Event ID 59]
Generate Activation Context failed for C:\Program Files\GetRight
\xx2gr.dll. Reference error message: The operation completed
successfully. ... [etc.]

Description [of Error No. 2 of the three]:
[Event ID 59]
Resolve Partial Assembly failed for Microsoft.VC80.ATL. Reference
error message: The referenced assembly is not installed on your
system. ... [etc.]

Description [of Error No. 3, Event ID 32 of the three]:
Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.ATL could not be found and Last
Error was The referenced assembly is not installed on your system. ...
[etc.]

As per the advice found in another forum, http://forums.primopdf.com/showthread.php?t=1146,
I downloaded and installed vcredist_x86.exe from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en,
but the problem is not resolved.

The error messages in the Event Log appear every time I start Iexplore
(v6). Opera 9.5 and Firefox 3 do not give any trouble. The cause the
automatic update feature of Quick Time, which I have disabled on my
computer. It started after I installed, on 23 June, the most recent
Shareware version (6.3e) of Getright. "xx2gr.dll" found in the top
error message is, in fact, part of Getright. I have been unable to
post any query to the relevant Getright forum.
I shall be thankful for any suggestions.

should read

The cause does not seem to be the automatic update feature of Quick
Time, which I have disabled on my computer.

Sorry for the error.

Start by uninstalling the adware/hijackware-ridden GetRight download manager
& rebooting.

Re: "SideBySide " error in Event Viewer
In a GetRight forum, I saw that another GetRight user had reported
exactly the same problem as mine, after he installed the registered
version 6.3e. No solution has been posted yet. I uninstalled 6.3e and
reinstalled the previous version, 6.3d. The problem is no longer seen.
However, your criticism of GetRight download manager as "adware/
hijackware-ridden" seems to be unjustified. I have been using GetRight
for several years, and never have had *any* problems with the earlier
versions. GetRight web site specifically states: "No Spyware!"; and:
"For all current versions of GetRight: GetRight contains absolutely no
advertising sorts of add-on files. GetRight contains no extra programs
tagging along in its installer. GetRight will not (and never has) send
us any personal information about you or your computer without your
knowledge. GetRight will not connect to our web site(s) without your
control and a reason useful for you." I have had no reason to
disbelieve them.
Thanks anyway for your suggestion, which indicated to me that the
problem was entirely due to GetRight and not any malfunctioning of
Windows-XP, and partly prompted me to go back to the earlier GetaRight
version.
