Processes not terminating

A number of applications I use are not quitting correctly, and when I
quit
and restart the application it results in duplicate processes running
in
Windows Task Manager. I have a Dell Latitude 620. I notice the problem
occurs
after I restart my computer from hibernate or standby mode. I' m
experiencing the
problem on many applications like outlook, word and ms internet
explorer.

Does anyone know what would cause this behavior ?
