slipstream a later driver version

If one slipstreams a later driver after an installation CD
that contains an earlier (possibly generic) version of the
driver for a particular device, will the installer
1) automatically select the slipstreamed later version for
installation, or will it
2) install the earlier version and then back it out and
replace it with the later slipstreamed version, or will it
3) install the earlier version and ignore the later
slipstreamed version?

It will use the driver that you tell it to use in the .sif or .txt file.

I used 'ubc4win' to slipstream all of my customization into a new boot cd.
I believe the purpose of slipstreaming is to capture all of the updates on to
a new bootable disk. I can't be 100% sure, I switched to a new system before
I ever got to try the disk.

That's why I asked if the installer would apply the later drive
over the earlier drive - replace it or back it out - rather than to
skip the 1st driver and install the slipstreamed driver. In other
words, would it see that the slipstreamed driver was to be used
as a replacement for the 1st driver.

Is an editing of a .sif or .txt file part of the normal procedure
for running Autostreamer or other slipstreamers? Or is it
a "special procedure" that I'd have to do at some point in
preparation of the new installation CD?

I'm pretty sure you've got it right. The slipstream program installs whatever
drivers
are installed in the configuration when you run it. I read the other post
about editing the .txt file. I can't comment on that procedure. I didn't have
to do it using ucb4win. Maybe they can give you clearer instructions.

As far as I know you have to edit the files manually, I don't think this
is done automatically by Autostreamer. You can read here for more
