XP Home: Unable to hibernate after scanning or installing new soft
Hi,

Everytime after I scan my PC using Windiw Defender or Norton Internet
Security,

I would not be able to hibernate my PC.

The same thing happens when I download and install new software.

The error message is “ The device driver for the ‘Communication Port (COM1)
devices is preventing the machine from hibernation. Please close all
application and try again. If problem persist, you may need to update the
driver.”

Usually I coulkd overcome this problem by uninstalling the COM1 driver at
the Device Manager and Scan for hardware changes and let the system to
reinstall it back.

Is there anyway to prevent similar problem from recurring ?

Thanks

Low
