The combo below works *impressively* better!

http://zonealarm.donhoover.net/uninstall.html

The Windows Firewall in XP does a fantastic job at its core mission and is
really all you need if you have an 'real-time' anti-virus program, [another
firewall on your router or] other edge protection like SeconfigXP and
practise safe-hex.
The windows firewall deals with inbound protection and therefore does not
give you a false sense of security. Best of all, it doesn't implement lots
of nonsense like pretending that outbound traffic needs to be monitored.

Or

You are not going to find anything better than the Vista FW and Vista in
itself due to the advanced features the FW and Vista are using.

I kinda like to know what program is calling home. If I can't control
that then might as well dump everything on the web and be done with it.

I really don't know why you keep spewing this nonsense out, no one is
saying that you should rely on outbound traffic filtering for securing
your computer. What many users are saying is that they like to know or
be made aware of what may be wanting to access the internet without
their knowledge and you of course keep on telling them that they are
dumb for wanting to have that knowledge. We all know that the Windows
firewall is sufficient and good at it's job but quite frankly you are
starting to sound like a cracked record and you should stop berating
users for wanting to find out what is going on with their computers! I
already know what you are going to reply; you know all that there is to
know about "your" applications on "your" computer so others should be as
smart as you and should also not need to filter outbound traffic. So
don't bother with a long tirade, I have already been trough this with
you before:

How would you know what users are saying? And what did *I* tell Gerald
Ross?
Your crystal ball is cracked, to say the least!

You *all* know?? Oh boy, a strong statement. I refrain from commenting.

Frequent contributors have 'canned' responses, nothing new here. It is very
common and deemed unobjectionable as long as they are pertinent in relation
to the subject matter and/or message. You just have to glance thru the
replies sent by you fellows MVP's.
You do realize that you don't own usenet services, now do you?
(You're some frustrated individual, embarrassing really)

Don't tell me what to do! (Wannabe netcop lol). You are way out of line.
Posting and referring to articles/publications of accomplished and
recognized authors is educational and far from what *you* call berating.
(You can't be very intelligent).

> I already know what you are going to reply;

Really? Well, if your crystal ball isn't cracked then you probably got it
from e-bay.
BTW, what are you smoking?

Then why did you bother? What's your point?

The above link makes excellent and educational reading.

I just was looking into my crystal ball; Sorry to inform you that you're
not on the short list for receiving a Lamborghini Laptop

Have a wonderful day, John John (MVP) :-)
