Windows firewall settings cannot be changed
When I click on the point to change the settings -- really, to see
what they are! -- what I get is a warning message that says "Due to an
unidentified problem, Windows cannot display Windows Firewall
settings."

What does this mean? Do I have a impending disaster on my hands?

Re: Windows firewall settings cannot be changed
What anti-virus application or security suite is installed? What
anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)? What third-party firewall
(if any)?

"Due to an unidentified problem, Windows cannot display Windows Firewall
settings" error, try:

Start>Run regsvr32 hnetcfg.dll [enter]

This assumes you aren't running third-party security software that has a
firewall component (eg. McAfee or Norton products).

What am I looking for?

McAfee is partly uninstalled. I could not clear out the last of it.
Other than that, the only firewall is what Windows offers.

Download/run this removal tool, then reboot:
