If the PC produces crackling sound then the USB hub/wiring
is acting like an antenna and transferring the RF generated by the
shredder to the speakers/sound card.
A mouse & keyboard is a high priority peripheral. A Seven port
hub is still limited by the on-board USB 2.0 controller/hub's total
bandwidth and power constraints that serves the expansion hub.
A better solution is a PCI based USB card. It will have it's own
dedicated controller/hubs and not be limited like your current setup.
