user groups in xp
This is probably a simple, stupid question to many, but here goes.

I have XP Home at home and only have two user groups: Computer
Administrator and Limited. I see lots of references to other groups
like Power Users or Backup Administrators with different levels of
privileges. Is it possible to create new groups in XP Home?

Thanks for info.

No, since the Local Users and Groups tool is not enabled in XP Home.

And nor is there the NTFS Security tab, anyway, I think (I have never
actually used Home for any length of time).

ss.

OK, this probably seems dorky, but I'm still stuck, and since it
involves system security I don't want to launch forward bravely. I

downloaded Security Configuration Manager, made a System Restore
Point, extracted all the SCM files to the same folder and read the
readme. I rebooted. Still no Security Tab appears in Explorer /
View / Folder Options. Do I have to do something else to get the tab
to appear?

I looked around the rest of your site and didn't find the info. XP
Security Console appears to be mostly about restricting specific
access from users. I didn't see that it would enable me to add user
groups.

Thanks for help.

Re: user groups in xp
I was replying to the poster who said that the Security tab was missing in
XP Home (you can see it if you boot into Safe Mode). The Security tab will
not allow you to access Local Users and Groups. It is disabled in XP Home,
period.
