Start menu size
Hello,

I have the Classic Start Menu. Suddenly the width is twice the size it used
to be. I find this very troublesome.
How do I put it back the way it was? Something in the registry perhaps?
Thank you.

The menu width is the width of the longest entry in it. Find that and
remove or rename it to something shorter and the width will decrease.
Obviously if it's not the ONLY long one, there is more looking to do.
e.g.
thisistheprogramthatwillwritethegreatamericannovel foryouwithouteventrying.exe:
That's how wide the menu will be. Shorten that to Novel.exe and the
next longest one will determine the width.

HTH

Re: Start menu size
I did not install anything new for a long time.
I have the control panel thing with the {...}
But it's not supposed to show. But now it's showing.
I don't know why.

Re: Start menu size
If you can't figure it out you can always consider rolling back to a
previous System Restore point (but you'll lose programs installed since
then, of course).

Re: Start menu size
Oh, I see what happened. I had the pc configured to show everything, hidden
files, system files, all extensions.
So it was showing the long Control Panel extension with the {class id}.
After a restart.

Thank you.
