Big f'n deal.
The WinXP SP2 administrative EXE download is ~260MB and I expect SP3 to be ~310MB.
Now please stop posting irrelevant information.

It is only about 65MB on an up to date SP2 system. But your point is well
taken.

I did call it the admistrative update. My bad for nomenclature. I'll use Microsoft
terminology.
"Network Installation Package for IT Professionals and Developers"
WinXP SP2 Download Size:266.0 MB
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en
And I expect the SP3 "Network Installation Package for IT Professionals and Developers" to
be ~310MB.
I hope this clarifies this a bit more. Sorry for any confusion.

Used the MS made SP2 update CD last go around. Hope they make same for SP3.
Us rural folks with just dialup service available finding things more and
more isolated. Maybe that's not a bad thing....

You can make them yourself, easily and quickly.

You don't have to rely on MS distributing CDs or on Windows Update via
Dialup .
Make a deal with an interenet cafe or a friend with hispeed at an office.
They download the SP Administrative install file, which is the largest and
with hispeed takes usually under 30 minutes; set it up and you take them
for lunch. On return, then they burn it to a number of CDs. Or they
give you the CD and you duplicate them, and use them as appropriate.
You pay them off for their effort; perhaps with more disks, lunch, or a nice
Calvados.

If your post was "In Response" to earlier posts then you should have replied to the thread
of said post or posts and NOT created a new thread. That would keep the subject matter
intact and contiguous.

Sounds like Bloat City. Dialup users will need to plan on leaving
their PC on for quite awhile. I suspect 10-20 hours? A good idea to
check your disk space and defrag before the ugly deed.

Re: If You Think 60 Mega Bytes Is Bad, How Does A 120 Mega Byte Download Sound?
Three to five hours is more likely for 65mb. Office service packs are often
as large or larger. I might wait until a cd is available from MS if I were
on dialup or had to pay for download time.
