system restore

Hello:

An end user reported something regarding the XP System Restore feature that
I am surprised at.

He had installed a program on his laptop. Beforehand, he created a Restore
Point to use just in case the program created issues. It did. It was
"messing up" some other programs of his, so he decided to use that Restore
Point in order to get himself back to square one.

He claims that, when he restored, it restored his laptop to the previous day
rather than simply to the previous point from before installing the program.

That does not sound right. I have used System Restore in the past to
restore my laptop to a point from just before I installed "bad programs", and
I got nothing but good results.

Could he have been mistaken, or am I mistaken?

I am having trouble downloading Windows Onecare, it gets about half way the
set-up and this error comes up, error # 0018-80070641 and it also says
"installation did not succeed an error ocurred during windows onecare
installations, please contact support." I have contacted support and when
ever I try to do what it says I get this same error message, Do you have any
ideas that might help. Thanks..

Can you please next time post in your own thread or in a new thread specific
t yuor issue and it will be handy if you made your search first and read
which NG will suit your issue better!

I think he may be! Try to Reverse the Restore and then do the restore
yourself and see if that will help.
He may be selected a restore point to a date before System checkpoint Restore.
