Linksys Router disconnects constantly
I have a Linksys WRTP54G router. I'm running multiple wireless devices from
it plus 3 wired PCs.

Recently it has started to provide totally unstable wired connections. The
PCs are constantly complaining that "A Network Cable is Unplugged".
Sometimes it comes right back, other times not. This happens on all the
wired PCs, while the wireless connections remain totally stable.

I've tried power-cycling the router, re-ordering the connectors, unplugging
various PCs, switching out the actual cabling, resetting the computers,
resetting the cable modem, etc. I have no idea what precipitated this,
either.

I can't see any setting in the config labeled "Provide Intermittent Wired
Connectivity"! Help please!

Thanks in advance,

Martin Murray

Sounds like it's time to replace the router. They don't last forever.

Re: Linksys Router disconnects constantly
I ended up "solving" the problem by reducing the speed on all the NICs to
10baseT full duplex. That gives connectivity to my PCs, albeit pretty slow.
I tried 100 but it would not connect at all.

My first guess would be bad cables or if you made them, then you didn't
make them properly.

Anytime you have to force 10mbps on a modern device you've got a problem
with the switch or the cables.

This sounds like a problem with your cables or the router, but it is
NOT related to the OS and as such the post is out of place HERE.

Ask elsewhere
