my computer

my pc works ok other than when i click on the icon "my computer" the screen
comes up with a torch that is searching-this goes on as long as i let it.i
scanned my pc and also tried system restore to no avail.i cannot therefore
access my c drive or my other drives. i can get to my docs as thy are stored
on my g drive.as a newcomewr i hope this info is sufficient. my system is xp
proff.

The icon My Computer is merely a link (LNK file) to
an executable called EXPLORER.EXE. Use
/ start / find / file
to see where this file is stored (default = c:\Windows.)
There are probably backup or earlier versions in
update (hidden) subdirectories in C:\Windows.
