XP can not recognize second HDD

XP can not recognize second HDD
I added a new samsung spint point F1 1T hard disk (SATA) to my PC
(dell dimension 5100, which had a 250G HDD as SATA master already) .
The bios can see the new hard disk correctly. Also the boot disk
Samsung provided can see it, format it.
But when I log in XP, it can not be see anywhere, either in Disk
Management or device manager.

Any suggestion ?

why did you not use windows to partition and format the drive

Because I can not see the disk in disk management in the first place.

you may not be able to see it because you used the software that came with
the drive. Now this is only a guess. You can try this, disconnect your boot
drive and setup the new drive to boot.
If that works then the drive is ok.

In xp,go to run,type:cmd In cmd typeiskPart In DiskPart,type:list disk
Type:list volume Type:Help for all cmds,or go to run,type:diskmgmt.msc
In msc,L.click the drive,create a partition & format it.
